The kids were excited to see the new exhibit at the Museum closest to us. A T-Rex Named Sue! What 4-10 year old wouldn't be excited to see a real T-Rex?! We live about an hour away from the museum but Lydia, Wyatt, and Amy have been taking swim lessons in a town about half way between our house and the museum, so we doubled up one of our swim days and trekked the extra distance to the museum before lessons. Greg was out of town that day so I braved this little field trip all on my own!
It was well worth it!
We met up with the Bowens at the museum. Dinosaurs AND some of their best friends? My kids were beyond excited!
L, W, & A all got a turn holding a REAL dinosaur fossil
(wyatt pretty much always has one pant leg tucked into his boots...boys are hopeless when it comes to fashion!)
proof that I did eventually let Dallin out of the stroller to play ;)
We also love the other part of our Museum that displays exhibits of our state's history so we made sure to go through it again...
I love that Amy thought they were supposed to be making faces in this picture...
....and then she realized they were making "bear" faces!
It was a long but fun day. I think my favorite part of the day (that had nothing to do with the museum) was when Wyatt realized what town we were in. He knew that Brother Barrus, our faithful and most favorite Home Teacher ever was moving to that same town. He said, "So this is how far we will have to drive to see him from now on"? It was such a simple question, but it made my heart happy to know that he loves Brother and Sister Barrus enough to want to still visit them. They are an older couple that needed to move closer to family. They are AMAZING people! We will miss them so much. I honestly cried the last time Brother Barrus came to home teach us. He has been so wonderful with our kids and taught us so much. I guess from now on we will just have to make several more trips to the museum and to visit Brother Barrus!
