Fun Friday - July 13, 2012

For Fun Friday we took the kids to the "beach" at the Marina.  The water is pretty low this year so our sandy beach ended up being more like a giant mud pit.

Didn't bother these kids one tiny bit!

The day was a little overcast but still hot.  It was perfect weather for getting nice and muddy.
Us moms enjoyed the view from the shade of the canopy...and far away from the mess ;)

I snapped this picture just as Preston was slinging mud at Dallin...see it all over his hat?  Pretty funny!

The girls had quite a mud city going on over here.

This one belongs to me :)

Dallin and Preston found this mud hole and, once again, didn't waste any time getting nice and dirty.
They had quite a little system going.  Preston got a little water in the bottle (from the puddle behind him), then he poured it into the smashed cup Dallin had found, and then Dallin dumped the cup out.  They did this OVER and OVER.  We probably could have left them in this little mud hole all day and they would have been happy.

The boys (and Kami ;) started their own mud city after seeing the older girls creation.

Honestly, this was not a very FUN Friday to clean up after, but these kids were thrilled.  I guess that's what Fun Friday is all about!

Fun Friday - July 6

We went on a picnic with some friends this last week for our "fun Friday".  We all had a great time!
See for yourself...

Dallin and Preston

Wyatt...not sure what he was looking at.  He spent most of his time learning how to make a spear from Rachael's dad.  He can't wait to go camping later this month and make a whole bunch of spears.

Dallin...this was only a few minutes in...he was still mostly clean

and a few minutes later...

I don't know what it is about toddlers and dirt, or BOYS and dirt.  Whatever it is, these two made sure they were nice and dirty and had a great time!
side note:  Can you believe Preston is younger than Dal?!  Dallin's no dainty flower, but Preston looks huge compared to him.  Future football player for sure!!!

The kids found a dead baby snake.  Have I mentioned how much I hate snakes?  This is the first year (in the last 9) that I've seen a snake in our yard.  YUCK, YUCK, and YUCK!

Amy loved playing in the creek.  She also made sure to cover her face in dirt.

This water was SO cold!  That's Lydia on the other side (in the pink) and Kim was the amazing mom that hauled kids across.  Dallin and I made it across once and it was too cold for me to do it again!

I didn't get too many pictures of Lydia.  Her and the other big girls spent most of their time having "girl talk".  Out of the four families, we all have girls as our oldest and they are all pretty close in age.  They packed  lawn chairs to their own little picnic spot where the little kids weren't allowed.  It's funny (and kinda sad) to see our girls trying so hard to be "older".

We also celebrated Bridger's birthday while we were up there.  Not a bad way to turn 6 ;)

Dallin enjoyed his cupcake from the back of the suburban.  This was after he fell in the creek so I had to strip him down and give him a wet wipe bath.  He was isolated to the car after that but not too disappointed since he still had his truck.

The best part about this fun Friday activity....my kid were so worn out that they actually slept in the next morning.  That NEVER happens around here.
