Well, either I'm a REALLY good teacher, or my son is a natural born dairy farmer.
Remember a few posts back when I posted about our home study of the body? And remember how I mentioned we covered the reproductive system? And then there was the mention of Wye's quick learning of female anatomy? Well, during our discussion of the female reproductive system, we talked about ovaries and how eggs are released and then fertilized. Lou has friends that are twins and wanted to know how twins are born so I explained that two eggs were released and fertilized. That lesson obviously made a huge impression on Wye...
I say this because a couple months ago I found out that my best friend is expecting her 4th baby. Yesterday she shockingly announced she is having TWINS! I'm so excited for her, but boy am I glad it's her and not me!!! When I shared the news with my kids, Wye loudly exclaimed:
"OH, So that means she hatched TWO eggs!"
So there it is...future dairy farmer (because let's face it, a cow's reproductive system is pretty much the same as ours), or a future gynecologist.
And actually, come to think of it...I have another story about Lou and her understanding of our amazing lesson on reproduction. A few days after our little lesson, she came upstairs and asked me if the reason Wye was left-handed meant that his egg came from the left ovary....
OK, so maybe I'm not the best teacher!
